Genesis Parent Access

What is Parent Access?
Parent Access is a component of our student information system (SIS), which allows us to provide parents with a safe andsecure way to view and submit information about your student via the Internet. Some examples are:

  • Class schedule

  • Attendance Records

  • Report Cards

  • Teacher Gradebooks (6-12)

  • Sign forms electronically

  • Edit contact information

Do students have access?
Students have their own Student Access accounts accessible via ClassLink; therefore, there is no need to let them use your account or give them your password.

Student access accounts do not have the ability to delete contact information or sign forms electronically, but they can view everything else the parent account can view.

How do I register for Parent Access?
An account is created for you when you initially register your student for school.

If you do not think you have an account, or want to set up an account for an another guardian, send an e-mailto parentaccess@montville.net with the following information:

  • Your name

  • Your child(ren)'s first and last name

  • A phone number we have on file to call you back in case we have a question

Please note: In order to ensure that student information remains secure, we verify the identity of anyone requesting an account.Therefore, we will only respond to requests by contacting you at a phone number or e-mail address that is already listed in a student's record.

What do I do when I forgot my password?
Please use the "Forgot My Password" link on the Parent Access login screen.If you continue to have issues signing in please e-mailparentaccess@montville.net.

What do I do when my account is locked?
If your account has been locked please try again in thirty (30) minutes.If the issue persists please forward the message you received informing you that your account is locked toparentaccess@montville.net.

Can I get notifications for changes to Parent Access information?
Yes! Parents can receive emails or text messages for the following events:

  • A form has been posted (Messages)

  • A document has been posted (Messages)

  • A gradebook update has been posted (Gradebook Grades)

  • A letter has been posted (Letters)

In order to get a text message you must have your cell phone number and cell phone provider entered on the Contacts page.

To set up alerts from within your Parent Access account:

  • Click on the Home tab

  • Click Message alert setup

  • Choose which alerts you wish to receive along with the phone number or email address to receive them on

  • Click Save Alert Preferences

An LMS is an online platform that helps teachers and students organize and manage their educational activities. It provides a virtual classroom where teachers can share materials, communicate with students, and evaluate their progress. For students, it offers a convenient way to access learning materials, complete assignments, and stay engaged in their studies.

Why do I need access as a parent?
Parents are able to view the same information as their student.

This includes messages posted by their teachers and school administrators, course materials, an assignment calendar, and assignment details.

Parents can also choose to get notifications when those items are posted.

Your Schoology account will have the same username as your Parent Access account.

Can I get notifications for changes in Schoology?
Yes! Parents can receive emails or text messages for Social, Academic, Group, and School activity that occurs in their student's account.

To access your personal account notifications, click the arrow in the upper right corner of Schoology, and select Settings. Then click the Notifications tab.
