1. Above and beyond
When a conventional storage system equals a tightsqueeze, these savvy shelves come to the rescue. Given theopen front, maintaining neatness is a foregone conclusionand, as long as you do, you can load up on bedding andpersonal effects. PS, allow sufficient height between bed andunit to avoid bumping your head getting in and out of bed orwhen propping yourself up for a session with a good book.

That time we decided we didn't need a massive flat screen TV over the fireplace and instead opted for a smaller TV that we could hide in the blackness of our DIY floating shelves... #itsadecorthing, amiright?! I was so surprised Jason was the one who put his foot down against having a bigger TV, because he's a guy, and not many guys would be against having an oversized television. Truth is, HE was the one who reeeeally didn't want it over the mantel. I was happy to oblige. Love him. 💙😂 // . . . . #apartmenttherapy #theNOWlook #dominomag #sodomino #smmakelifebeautiful #hauteliving #elledecor #denverstylemagazine #5280home #denverinteriordesign #manteldecor #fireplacedecor #builtins #floatingshelves #mydecorwednesday #mywooddecorwednesday #woodsandwhiteswednesday #diyedandgonetoheaven #dwellpow #simplystyleyourspace #kismetcheckoutmyhouse #modernbohemian #makehomematter #interiorandliving #heyhomehey #stylemuttspaces #styleathome #howwedwell #sassyhomestyle
7. Under bed storage
When storage and space is at a premium, don’t ignore the potential that ‘under the bed’ has to offer. Look for a set of sturdy old drawers (check outop shops or council clean-ups), then repurpose them with paint, nifty sash cord handles and a set of castor wheels. No more mess!

9. Maximise natural light
Throw open the blinds and remove dark objects such as bookcases near windows where they can reduce the amount of light reflecting into the room. Hang large mirrors wherever possible, which not only create the illusion of more space, but actively increase the amount of ambient light if they are in the vicinity of a window.

If you lack a bedhead, not to worry as a stretched canvas, poster or framed picture centred between the bed and your floating wall unit will fill the gap admirably.
13. Picture this
Pictures personalise bedrooms but they can end up looking like a whole lot of clutter. A pair of narrow floating shelves positioned one above the other and above a chest of drawers takes care of any potential problems. The narrow lip keeps the pictures from slipping.

Bed styles for small rooms
The best bed styles for small rooms are those that offer additional storage. That might come in the form of a bed that's high enough to fit storage boxes underneath, or a bed that has built-in drawers. Another option is to look for a loft bed (a bed that looks like bunks, but is missing the. bottom bed) because you can fit additional storage or even a desk beneath a loft bed set up.
